Piscinas dunes and beach

A beach of about 7 km backed by a system of active dunes reaching inland.

About the place

Behind the beach the sand dunes push about 2 km inland, among junipers, mastic and wild olive. You may meet Sardinian deer, and sea turtles lay eggs here.

The mistral keeps the sea often rough. On the coast you can see the remains of the former mining warehouse and the rails that carried ore from Ingurtosu.

What to do

  • Walk among the dunes on marked paths
  • Watch the sunset
  • Swim only with care for the sea conditions

Practical tips

  • Find out about access and road conditions before you set off: sources describe different routes, with dirt-track stretches.
  • The seabed drops quickly and the sea is often rough; driving off-road on the dunes is forbidden.
